January 2017
Dear Friends,
Do you know what your donation means?
Last year Creative Living provided 12,000 hours of respite to families and caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities. More than 43 million adults in the United States are family caregivers of an adult or child with a disability or chronic condition. 80% of those needing long-term services are living at home. The emotional and physical drain of around-the- clock care takes a toll on families: four in ten caregivers consider it highly stressful. 85% of family caregivers of adults do not receive respite. The opportunity to take a break from the 24/7 care of a loved one is crucial to the health and wellbeing of caregivers. Creative Living offers much-needed respite for these caregivers, many of whom are senior citizens caring for an adult child with special needs.
Creative Living is the only respite home in the area for individuals with developmental disabilities and we also build independent living skills and social connectedness for our participants. Creative Living ends 2016 on a very positive note, and we look forward to our new and existing programs in 2017. With your support, we will: expand the summer camp we piloted in 2016; launch 2017 Vacation Break Camps during the February and April Massachusetts public school vacation weeks; welcome younger participants, now 16 and above,to our vibrant Friday Night Out program; and we will develop Spanish-language materials and host two Spanish-language weekends in 2017.
Can we count on you to donate to the Annual Friends Membership Appeal?
Please return the enclosed donation envelope or make your donation on-line at We wish you all the best in 2017!
